A 28 kW rooftop solar system supplies approximately 15% of this Illinois fire protection district’s annual electricity needs. The system generates an estimated 30,179 kWh of clean energy each year, reducing carbon emissions by 27 tons—the equivalent of avoiding nearly 3,000 gallons of gasoline. This municipally owned project was funded through a direct capital investment.
