As a part of the CFC phase out, GEC converted nine MCI chiller plants to HCFC123 chillers nationwide. The mechanical equipment room ventilation system and controls were upgraded to meet ASHRAE 52 requirements.

GEC prepared a comprehensive energy cost reduction program that included the plant HVAC, process chilled water, process compressed air, off-gas incinerator, electric power distribution, lighting and DDC control systems. The program was a prototype for implementation in eleven additional Mobile plants nationwide.

The City of Chicago has four Materials Recovery & Recycling facilities. Each facility is approximately 150,000 sq.ft. and is designed for handling 800 tons per day of mixed waste and bagged recyclables such as paper, different grades of glass, aluminum cans and plastics. GEC was responsible for designing the mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, security, and video surveillance systems for three of these facilities.
